About Dr. Herrera

Dr. Herrera was born in Denver, Colorado. She received her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, and completed an internship and residency in Pediatrics at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. After practicing general pediatrics for several years, she completed a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C., and joined the faculty there as Assistant Director of the Division of Allergy and Immunology.

In 1989, Dr. Herrera was appointed Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine in the Division of Allergy and Immunology at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. After several years in academic medicine, she established her own practice.

Dr. Herrera is Board Certified in Pediatrics and in Allergy and Immunology. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is also past president of the medical staff at Providence Hospital and the Alabama Society of Allergy and Immunology.

Dr. Herrera has been the recipient of The Best Doctors in America award yearly since 2000.
